DIVINE DEPENDENCY
Sometimes we over complicate the most simplistic things. Sometimes we stress out about the very things God gave us for the purpose of peace.
Recently God was speaking to me about Divine Dependency. How, in any and every circumstance, we have the choice to simply lean into Him and see His victory!
He reminded of one of my favorite Bible stories. David at Ziklag. 1st Samuel 30. I encourage you to read it for yourself. Or you can join me here for a bit of story time.
I submit to you that while you’re going about your Father’s business, the enemy may throw a lot your way. John 10:10 tells us the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. In David’s story, he gets attacked, his support system turns on him and in verse 6 tells us he was, “anguished.” The enemy wants to use these experiences to:
1. …drive a wedge between you and God; so you blame God.
2. …drive a wedge between you and your support system; to isolate you!
3. …drive you into a victim mentality. Bring out the violin!
David’s example here is so important!! He goes to seek God and verse 8 says, “So David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?’” In the midst of that turmoil he went straight to God. Divine Dependency.
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” In intense situations, that’s easier said than done. But you gotta do the hard thing sometimes to eventually find His supernatural ease.
When life gets tough….
SEEK GOD. GET HEALED. GET THE STRATEGY!
Being in control in over-rated. There’s so much truth in the cliche’ “Let go, and let God.”
We saw how David responded to the pressure. But here’s the rest of the story in 1 Samuel 30:
8 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”
And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”
David sets out, has a bit of an adventure on his way to the Amelikites. Then….
17 Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled. 18 So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. 19 And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all.
God has a winning strategy for your next season. It starts with you seeking Him. Whatever that looks like for you. Curled up in your favorite chair conversing with Him. Going for a long walk on a trail. Taking a trip and talking while you watch the waves. Going for a drive. However you decide, get someplace where you can be with Him alone. SEEK GOD. Allow Him to heal your heart, mind, spirit. Give Him permission to do whatever needs to be done. Allow Him to root out whatever shouldn’t be there. Be it a soul tie, wrong mindset, or unforgiveness. GET HEALED. Share with Him everything that is in your heart. But don’t leave until you also spend time listening to what’s on His. GET THE STRATEGY.
Sometimes the strategy is counter intuitive. But when has God’s plan ever failed? Remember He uses the foolish things to confound the wise. Choose to lean into Divine Dependency moving forward. Allow Him to launch you into your wildest dreams and your most fulfilling years to date!
